AREA DESCRIPTION
The project area Beesenberg Süd is located in the district of Uckermark (independent town of Prenzlau) and is bordered to the east by the Prenzlau-Pasewalk railway line. It includes spring peatland located at the periphery of the Ücker valley. The water is fed from an aquifer in which the groundwater is artesian. Despite numerous drainages, some areas typical of spring peatland have been preserved to this day; here, unused reed beds and sedge meadows are widespread. The remaining area is used as pastureland. The area drains via a channel system and presumably also via a drainage system via a receiving channel to the Ücker or, at the northern periphery, to the Dauergraben.
WHAT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING?
Hydrological measurements at five groundwater and one surface water monitoring site
Peat drilling to expand the peat soil map
