AREA DESCRIPTION
The East of Schönberg Peatland project area is located north-east of the village of Schönberg in the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin. The low-lying area is structured as siltation and throughflow peatland. The groundwater flows into the peatland from the catchment area, which is covered with coniferous forests. There is a considerable gradient in the longitudinal profile of the valley, meaning that the developed main channel quickly drains the water in the direction of the Dosse river.
